Five storage ideas for a hallway with no room

Our hallway is 90 centimetres wide. It is the first thing guests see and the last thing we see when we leave, and for years it was a pile of shoes, three coats on one hook and a bike we squeezed past every morning. These are the five ideas that fixed it, for about £400.

1. Hooks, high and many

A row of hooks at two heights: coats up high, bags and dog lead lower down.

One hook for every person, plus one for guests, plus one for bags. We fixed a row of eight wooden hooks at two heights, which holds more than a coat stand and takes no floor space at all.
